Crathorne Sports

Albert Craythorne played for Manchester city in 1953! Unfortunately he injured a ligament and was forced to retire - but read more by clicking on the photo.

Reuben ('Ben') Craythorne was a professional footballer!  He played for Notts County in the years around 1911.  Born in Birmingham in 1882, he returned home after the footballing to set up business as a Coal Merchant.  His father was another Reuben, and his grandparents were Frederick Crathorne and Matilda Wilkes.  There's more about his ancestors here and his own life is recorded here, thanks to Steve Crathorn! .

We're not sure if hunting counts as a sport, but if it does, Ricky Crathorne is a hunter, specialising in warthogs.  He hunts with bow and arrow, as you can see from the photos.
