The
starting place for all Crathornes has to be the village
of of Crathorne in North Yorkshire, England.
There's a lot of information about the village on the web,
including dedicated websites for the village itself (www.crathorne.org)
plus the
Crathorne Arms and of course Crathorne
Hall. You can find out about its history from British
History Online, study the ancient parish at Genuki
and even find a rather poor drawing of Sir William's Statue from
the Church
Monument's Society. you can see photos of the village
at Freefoto.com
or buy an old Ordnance Survey map - click the map below
for the link.

There's
also a Crathorne
in Iowa, USA. It's about an hour north of Sioux City,
but it looks like there's only a couple of houses there!

There's
a Crathorne Road in Beverley, North Humberside.
Just off Coltman Avenue, it's not that far from the
station. It's named after Josiah Crathorne who owned a
huge mill near there, which unfortunately burned down in
1907. Josiah was descended from the North Ferriby
Crathornes, and brought up his family of five in Beverley in the
mid 1800s.

Craythorne Road in
Rolleston, near Burton on Trent in Staffordshire, is next to a
golf course called 'The Craythorne'! However we
don't know who the illustrious Craythorne was to give his or her
name to these things. If you have any ideas, please click
the link below!
